Enrollment – Group Choice

First-year students enrolling for the first time

In the 2026/2027 academic year, the School of Industrial Engineering (EEI) will offer 8 Bachelor’s Degrees, 3 Double Degrees (PS) and 2 PARS programs. All of them share a common first-year curriculum. That is, first-year students in any of the Bachelor’s Degrees, Double Degrees (PS), or PARS programs will take the same first-year courses.

In the first year, each student will have to choose one of the 15 available groups, which are distributed across both sites:

Students must make their selection based on the language of instruction, class schedule (morning or afternoon), and the site where they wish to study. To make an informed decision, they should take the following aspects into consideration:

1. Which site do I want to attend for the first year?

  • The Campus Site: Groups 1 to 8 are taught at this location.

  • The City Site : Groups 9 to 15 are taught at this location.

2. Which schedule (shift) do I prefer?

  • Morning shift: Students can choose from 11 groups — 6 at the Campus Site and 5 at the City Site.
     
  • Afternoon shift: Students can choose from 4 groups — 2 at each site.

3. Which language of instruction?

Out of the 15 first-year groups, one group is taught in English, while the other 14 are taught in Spanish or Galician.

  • Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering – English pathway must register in the English-taught group (Group A07).
  • Students from the remaining Bachelor’s Degrees, Double Degrees (PS), or PARS programs may register in any group, including the English-taught group, provided there are available places.

4. What timetable?

5. Summary of the Enrollment Process

Each student must complete their enrollment in the selected degree program through the CIUG platform and the University of Vigo’s online registration system, following the instructions provided in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRdRDRB5U5U.

At the School of Industrial Engineering, the steps to formalize enrollment are as follows:

  1. Select:
    a) Language (Spanish, Galician, or English).
    b) Schedule (morning or afternoon).
    Students enrolled in the Industrial Technologies – English pathway are already assigned a language (English) and a schedule (morning).
  2. Select one course.
  3. Choose a group based on the sity: Campus Sity or City Sity.
  4. Verify in the enrollment receipt that the selected schedule and group are the same for all courses.

General Instructions

If you are a student of one of the 8 bachelor’s degrees or 3 double bachelor’s degrees (PS) offered at the School of Industrial Engineering (EEI) and you are enrolling for the first time in 2nd year or higher years, you should take the following points into account:

1. At which Campus is the bachelor’s degree or PS that I am studying taught?

All bachelor’s degrees and double bachelor’s degrees have the 1st year in common, which can be taken at either of the two Campuses.

From the 2nd year onwards, bachelor’s degrees are distributed between the two locations —campus and city— so that some are taught only at one location, while others are taught at both locations depending on the year or the specialisation.

From the 2nd year onwards, double bachelor’s degrees are taught mainly at the Campus location; however, in two of them, the 6th year can also be taken at the City location depending on the specialisation chosen by the student.

2. Can I choose between a morning and an afternoon shift?

It is only possible to choose a shift in those bachelor’s degrees that have more than one theory group per year. Therefore, it is important to be informed about which bachelor’s degrees have only 1 theory group and which have more than one group and, in both cases, about the shift of each group:

In the case of double bachelor’s degrees (PS), in the same year, students must take subjects from both bachelor’s degrees that make up the PS, which means they have to choose one group for each bachelor’s degree.

3. How can I find out the timetable for each bachelor’s degree/PS and year?

4. Can I enrol in different groups?

  • Students who enrol in a full year, whether newly enrolled or not, must choose the same group for all the subjects in that year.

    If different groups are chosen, the student will be informed that they are not correctly enrolled and the appropriate corrections will be made.

  • Students who enrol in subjects from different years must:
    1. 1. Choose the same group for all subjects in the same year.
    2. 2. Take all the subjects they enrol in at the same location, regardless of the year they belong to.
      • Students in the 4th year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering who also enrol in any subject from previous years must choose a group at the Campus location.
      • Students in the 4th year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, in the Transport and Machinery specialisations, who also enrol in any subject from previous years must choose a group at the Campus location.
      • Students in the 4th year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, in the Design and Construction specialisations, who also enrol in any subject from previous years must choose a group at the City location.

        If different groups or locations are chosen, the student will be informed that they are not correctly enrolled and the appropriate corrections will be made.

This information will allow students to clearly identify their preference regarding the choice of group and location before the enrolment process begins and, therefore, minimise the time spent on enrolment and avoid errors. In this regard, please remember that the choice must be made in such a way as to ensure timetable compatibility.

Finally, it is also very important to take the following points into account:

1. The number of places available per group is limited, so students who enrol earlier will have a greater chance of choosing their preferred group than those who enrol later.

2. When there are no places available in a group, that group will no longer be offered to students who enrol subsequently. In other words, if a student is not offered all possible groups, this is because one or more of them are already full.

3. Since enrolment is carried out online, several students may be enrolling simultaneously, and they may even be interested in the same group/shift. In this case, if two students are competing for a single place, the student who completes the enrolment process first will obtain it.

Pre-enrolment for Elective Subjects

As the number of places is limited, students wishing to enrol in the elective subjects offered by this School must complete a pre-enrolment process before the enrolment period for undergraduate studies opens each academic year. The ordinary pre-enrolment period runs from 1 July to 17 August.
